SERVICE PROVIDED: At the end of its productive lifespan, Tasman Mine engaged MPA to remove infrastructure from its main portals and adits and construct the mine’s final seals.

Project Overview
Mine Projects Australia was engaged by Donaldson Coal (Tasman Mine) to demobilize its three mine entries including installing the final mine seals.
This involved providing engineering support to assist the mine team with the project and required the setup of silos and batching plants to facilitate the large-scale pumping operation necessary for the task.

Challenges
The challenges associated with the final sealing of Tasman mine included;
- Design of the final seals as per the MDG6001
- Consideration of overburden load and the depth of cover on final seal
- Consideration for water discharge from mine
- Ventilation arrangements whilst sealing

Solution
The demobilisation of the mine entries were completed without incident and 30m StrataPlug® monolithic seals were constructed as the final seals in each of the entries.
Results
The mine entries were sealed using plug seals designed and engineered by Mine Projects Australia the client was very happy with the project that was completed on time and within budget to the highest standards.
